Information and tickets
The Travelshop closed on 14 July 2013.
More information about buying tickets will be advertised at the interchange.
You can buy rail tickets from the temporary ticket office on platform 4
Please allow extra time if you need to buy tickets before you travel.
You can also buy Metrolink tickets from the ticket machines on platform 1
You can buy Wayfarer tickets and most 7 and 28 day season tickets from System One and Metrolink from local shops, convenience stores, newsagents and forecourts that use PayPoint.
PayPoint is a system that allows these retailers to sell tickets giving you a much wider choice of places you can buy them.
When you buy your ticket, show the seller your travel club membership card (Saver Travel Club card, igo pass, Metrolink Travel Club ID etc.) as usual.
The PayPoint website includes an agent locator that finds PayPoint outlets near you. www.paypoint.co.uk
During the summer a brand new
information and ticket office will open adjacent to platform 1,
selling tickets and giving advice about using buses, trains and trams.
trains and Metrolink trams during the works
Walk-in routes to the Metrolink and rail platforms will be maintained while the work continues.
The map shows pedestrian walk routes to the platforms.
You can still reach all train and Metrolink platforms whichever entrance you use.
Walking access to the Metrolink and Northern Rail platforms from the bus stopping area will be diverted to the terminus end of the Metrolink platforms. From here you will be able to reach all the train and tram platforms. The existing walking route through the old booking hall will be closed.
Use the footbridge to reach Platform 4 and the temporary rail booking office from Platforms 2/3
If you are unable to use the footbridge then please use the rail crossing point. You will need to be accompanied by a member of staff – please ask for assistance at the Supervisor’s Office or the Northern Rail temporary ticket office.
An accessible toilet is available in the library on Stamford New Road during library opening hours.
A small number of spaces in the Oakfield Road car park will be out of use during the works.
Service changes to bus, train and Metrolink tram services
To minimise disruption to bus, rail and Metrolink services while the redevelopment work takes place, there will be some evening and night working hours.
There may be some occasions when bus, rail and Metrolink services could be affected by the work and we will let you know about these in advance.
For general information about public transport services at Altrincham Interchange please phoneTraveline on 08712002233 (7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and
8am to 8pm at weekends and public holidays).
Taxis will continue to run from the clock tower rank on Stamford New Road throughout the majority of the redevelopment of the interchange; however, as part of the works we will be upgrading the taxi rank.
We will let you know about these works in advance and where to get your taxi.
